105 Cimarron Trail, Irving Texas. That was our address in Texas. My son still knows it byheart. If got an opportunity to go to Texas again, I would still choose the same neighborhood to stay and grow family. Lets see why my family loved this place
1: Cimarron Park : This was the most important reason why we loved this place. We stayed directly opposite to Cimarron park. We could literally see park from our patio. Staying near park means, lots of fun for your kids. This park has multiple play areas for kids from all age groups. Its mostly never crowded except for evenings in summer.
My son sometimes acted as if he owned the park. I had to remind him that its a public park and everyone can use it.
My husband played Tennis along with his friends on Tennis court. If you are volleyball enthusiasts, there is volleyball court too. If you visit park on early mornings, you will see Indians playing cricket on weekends.
2: Cimarron Park Recreation Centre: Cimarron park is a big park. It also hosts cimarron park recreation center. Recreation Centre offers various programs for young and old. It has gym, activity room etc. You can visit below page for more information on programs offered by Cimarron Park Recreation Centre

One of the program offered by Recreation Centre was ” Rare learning program” for kids from 3 to 5 years of age. I would say they did provide very good learning experience for kids. My son attended it for 8 months – 3days a week and he truly loved it.
3: Cimarron Park Aquatic Centre : If you want to learn swimming, go and enroll into aquatic center programs. But do remember that it is mostly operational during summers. You can get more information on the above recreation center link.
4: Tom Landry School: Just beside Cimarron park, we have Tom Landry Elementary School https://landry.cfbisd.edu/
5: The very beautiful Campion Trail: Cross the road across Cimarron park, and you will head towards Campion Trail. Turn right and if you keep walking it extends till ‘Sam Houston Trail Park’. But be aware of the wildlife around it. We once spotted bobcat and dint know what it was. It looked like distant cousin of Tiger. We were so afraid because of our kid and walked away from its vicinity immediately.
Other than that, the trail provides scenic views across the seasons. Beautiful river & bridge adds to its beauty. Its a serene place if you want to spend some alone time in evenings.
Though very beautiful, its usually less crowded. Take your kids to nature walk over the trail. They will surely enjoy it. If they are big enough, cycling can be exciting activity too. In spring time, click pictures with wildflowers. And in winter, if you are lucky enough, slide through the snow.
6: Valley Ranch Library: Now go opposite from wilderness and keep walking along with Campion trail, you will reach Valley Ranch Library in 10 mins. Do I need to tell how awesome libraries in USA are? We never missed weekly story telling activity in library. Library staff there is awesome and so is their book collection. I even found ‘Upanishadas’ in the library. You will find books in Indian languages like Marathi, Hindi , Gujrati too. They have separate section for books in foreign languages. So you are most likely to find books in major languages from the world.
But the most happening section in the library is the kids section. Its always bustling with excited little ones. Some searching for “Peppa Pig Books” , some waiting for their turn to use computer. We never left library without at least 10 books.
And if you an employee who wants to do WFH but your house isn’t peaceful enough, you can always opt to come here. There are separate study areas where you can work calmly. There are conference rooms where you can take calls. Library has something or the other for your whole family.
7: Eateries & Restaurants: If you are hungry after all the jogging on campion trail and all the reading from library, you can visit any of the restaurants right opposite from the library. There are many options available especially for Indian food lovers.
8: Driving Classes & Dance Classes
If you look carefully, beside the restaurants you will find dance classes & driving classes too. You don’t have to drive too far to teach your kids to dance.
9: New Age Montessori
Though little costly, on other side of library you have “New Age Montessori”. If you have budget, you can go for it because it has very good reviews.
10: Saddlehorn Park
Last but not the least, we have Saddlehorn park. It’s a very small park. But good spot to take kids when they are bored with Cimarron Park. Also, there are many activities organized on this park. If you follow Irving FB page, you will get notification about it. Last year we had Goat Yoga, Foam Party, Bug Search etc.
I almost forgot, does you kid likes ducks & goose? Don’t forget to carry some duck food while walking towards Saddlehorn Park from Campion trail.
Most important thing is you don’t need car to access all these places. they are 10-15 min walking distance from each other 🙂
Why wouldn’t my son want to come back to Texas when he was staying in such a happening place.
